As an Approved Inspection Authority, our primary function is the protection of the public with regard to any electrical activities undertaken on their behalf.

Approved Contractors are required to issue a Certificate of Compliance for all their electrical work to confirm that the installation has been designed, constructed, inspected and tested (where applicable) in accordance with the national electrical safety standard, SANS10142-1 Wiring Code.

Certificates of Compliance in accordance with the provisions of the EIR in a user friendly format and approved by the Department of Labour are obtainable directly from the AIA

We are also an active participant in all aspects of legislative and regulatory changes which are made in the electrical industry and therefore feel that we also have a secondary responsibility to enhance the professionalism and technical expertise of the “legitimate” electrical contractors operating in this environment.

In this regard, we will endeavor to use this column to provide you with access to all anticipated changes affecting your activities and also to inform you as and when we will be conducting information seminars on the interpretation of standards and the application of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85, of 1993.
